About Us

WE BELIEVEin Colorado youth.

Colorado Youth for a Change (CYC) was established in 2005 in response to the alarming increase in the number of students dropping out of school in Colorado and the failure of the school system to both prevent students from dropping out and to re-engage students who had already left school. During the first year the Founder & Executive Director provided outreach to youth, many who were displaced by the closing of Manual High School in Denver, and reenrolled back into school 55 dropouts. After two years of outreach and recovery began intervention work aimed at identifying early warning signs of dropping out for 9th graders. Continuing to evolve, this intervention work has recently expanded to capture 11th and 12th graders who are over-age, under-credit, and at risk of dropping out. Today the agency employs 45 staff members across six school districts.
